Just to the east of the Petrobras area, in the red box, lie Ecuador’s largest oil reserves. In fact, a quarter of the country’s known reserves are in this box. As discussed earlier, Ecuador has approved oil exploration and drilling in Yasuní, and it is going to continue. But we can prevent the access roads.

If Petrobras is allowed to build a road, what is to stop a similar road from entering this area?
