South America is home to the greatest bird diversity in the world, and as this image indicates, the peak diversity is in a band where the Andes meets the Amazon. Also pictured here is the rare Harpy Eagle, which is perhaps the most powerful bird in the world. Yasuni is an important refuge for this rare and magnificent bird.
